Blog 3: My Favorite Cartoon

Hello everyone, today I will talk to you about my favorite cartoon of when I was a child.

I think my favorite cartoon was Totally Spies!, the series is about 3 best friends: Sam, Alex and Clover, they lived together in a mansion in Beverly Hills but the plot was that in addition to being students they also belonged to an organization where they had to fulfill missions (rescuing other people or seeking information) as secret agents.

In every episode the organization leader Jerry Lewis gave them a job and also gave them tools to solve the cases, my favorite tool was a laser lip and boots that helped them fly, it may sound super crazy but I used to think that was really cool. I think I remember that there were many villains but who I remember most is a man with a penguin appearance.

In addition, the lives of the girls outside the organization were shown, things like how was their high school life, their enmities and their relationships. Until today I continue to watch the series, it brings me many beautiful memories, especially when we saw the series with my sisters on Saturdays after doing our homework.

Blog 5: My Future Job

Hello everyone, today I will tell you about the work I would like to have in the future.

I think the work I would like to have is related to the restoration and conservation of heritage buildings, although I would also like to teach about the classical and heritage architecture of both Chile and the world. The only thing i'm sure is that I don't want to be locked in an architecture office designing buildings or drawing plans, because I don't like it.

Whenever I think about of my future work, It comes to mind traveling and knowing many heritage buildings and which have marked a before and after in the history of architecture, from The Coliseum to the Basilica of Saint Sophia and its mysterious dome. I am fascinated by the idea of understanding its functioning, its structure and working to keep these great constructions in place over time, and also to teach others about this topic.

All the courses outside the curriculum mesh I have taken and the specializations I chose are related to material and intangible heritage, it is a subject that I am really passionate about and would like to develop further in the future.

Blog 4: How Green are you?

Hi everyone!, today I will talk to you about recycling and the environment

I must really be honest and admit that I am not very aware of environmentally friendly practices, but I have taken some of the habits my family do have. They recycle and separate the trash according to its materiality, make compost and even reuse glass bottles and convert them into glasses and vases. I do the same practice, however, I do it because it's a habit in my family rather than doing it on my own (I know that I should change that mentality and I am working on this). Because I awake 2 hours from college, I use a bus, but to get around in the place where I live I prefer to walk.

I do not support an eco-organization, I do not really know whether recycling centers count as an organization, and I think that is due to the personal misinformation I have on the subject. I would like to be more conscious and a useful person in terms of recycling, to start showing more interest and being just as committed as other environmental activists. To reduce my carbon footprint I try to disconnect appliances that I don't use, avoiding eating meats, use cloth bags and avoid using plastic cutlery, dishes and glasses.

In our society, it is necessary to raise awarenes about the issue and the effects of pollution and greenhouse gases on the whole population.

Blog 2: Songs and Memories

Hello everyone, today I will talk about songs that bring memories to my mind.

I should start by saying (?)  that most of the songs that are transported to the past are from the same group as it is a band that I have heard for 7 years and with which I have grown and spent happy moments and also sad then it is difficult for me to choose one song, but I believe one of the songs that markd my lifestyle is Spine Breaker of BTS, I remember I was sad because I wanted a new cellphone but my parents couldn't buy, so I listened this song that literally speak of the children who break their parents' back to fulfill their whims, every time I hear it song I feel ashamed of myself but at the same time it was the time I began to become aware of many things.

And well, the second song I chose remember me of a sad moment in my life, but at the same time it is my greatest comfort, it is “Spring day” of the BTS, it is a song that came out a short time after I lost one of the most important people in my life, it been 4 years of that and whenever I hear this song is inevitable to feel nostalgia (?), but I feel conforted.

Blog 1: A Country I would like to visit

Hello everyone, today I will talk about the country that I would like to visit:

I would like to travel to Japan, I cannot explain why exactly, only that since I was a little girl I liked their culture, their language, food and especially the Japaneses temples, since they are unique and have a very interesting history related to deities and other spirits. I don't know much about the country, but if I know about Japaneses architects like a Fumihiko Maki and Toyo Ito and some urban myths like a Kuchisake Onna (the woman of the cut face), the legend of teke teke, among others.

I would love to travel to Japan and dedicate myself to tourism first, visit temples and open air museums, and go to Tokyo disneyland, also attend some festivities where they wear traditional clothing and sell lots of typical food from the country. In the future, I would like to live in Japan (only few years since I would also like to work in South Korea) and know about Japanese architecture, their wood work and the thoughs they have around architect work since there are five Japaneses winners of the pritzker prize.

Blog 9: Evaluation of blog experience

Hello everyone, today I will write the last blog of this English course.

It was a great experience, I had never done a blog writing about my personal tastes and talking about the career. It was also a lot of fun reading to my peers, I discovered things I didn't know (like some websites and some movies) and made online classes from home way more entertaining.

I think my writing skills have improved, every time I blogged I had less trouble writing the story and it took me less time. Although I still have a lot to improve in terms of writing, I think the fact that we worked through blogs made us develop this skill because it was a more dynamic learning method.

I do not know what I would like to include or what other topics I would use to write, because I think the teacher was very dynamic and talked about many different topics and used various tools like videos, games and blogs. The topics he made us write about were very general so we were very free to write about them.

Finally I want to thank Professor Benjy and my classmates, we were a small course, but I think we all tried to make it work and tried our best to get it through despite quarantine.

Thank you for everything, I hope we can read to each other again.

Blog 8: A subject you enjoyed studying this semester

Hello everyone, today I will tell you about my favorite subject this semester

UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage
of Humanity: "Bailes Chinos"
My favorite class is called Intangible Heritage, it is a transversal that is given in the FAU and is very interesting. During the class, the teacher presents a ppt (power point) and goes ask us questions about the subject, we also watch videos and read essays on intangible heritage and Chilean identity, it is a very fun class and where you learn a lot about the customs and traditions of the peoples who live in all regions of Chile.

Some of the topics discussed in the class are fairs and markets of Chile, traditional games, religious ceremonies that take place in the country and myths and legends. Now the professor made us create a work (atlas, story, comic) that talks about a topic and can be presented to children so that they learn more didactically about intangible heritage in Chile.

I think it's my favorite subject because I've learned a lot about the Chilean identity present in the country and about the different ways it has to manifest itself, plus the teacher always tries to get us to relate the content to our career and it is very interesting.
